The Jacksonville Jaguars get a taste of the regular season on Friday night, as they take on the Detroit Lions in their “dress rehearsal” week 3 preseason game.
The third preseason game is usually the most representative of actual NFL play as teams leave starters in through the first half and occasionally into the third quarter. For the Jaguars, this preseason game has added significance as they finally get to see their prized second round running back take the field.
Defensively, this should be a very good barometer for the Jaguars. Matthew Stafford has some legitimately terrifying weapons in the passing game, so it’ll be interesting to see how the secondary holds up, especially if rookie 4th rounder James Sample gets significant playing time at free safety.
