The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed a handful of impact players so far in free agency, but they’ve also missed on a few big targets (Olivier Vernon and Robert Ayers being the most painful of the ones that got away). As expected, the Jaguars had to overspend to lure in each player but they have also been somewhat hesitant to hand out massive deals. Vernon got an enormous, record-setting contract from the New York Giants, and the Jaguars decided they didn’t want to invest so much money in a player who isn’t elite at his position.
