After months of waiting, the Jacksonville Jaguars finally selected quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. Even though both Justin Fields and Zach Wilson are also talented, the Clemson standout became the clear-cut favorite to land in Jacksonville, as he was the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck.
Before taking Lawrence with the top pick, in 2021’s draft, the Jaguars had been looking for a franchise quarterback to no avail. It’s true that David Garrard and Mark Brunell played efficiently at times, and even Blake Bortles had a couple of solid seasons but never has Jacksonville had long-lasting consistency at the position.
