In any coaching career, timing is critical. One member of the Jaguars staff who should benefit from the team bolstering its shabby defense this offseason is first-year coordinator Todd Wash.
Unlike predecessor Bob Babich, who you could argue got fired, in part, because his schemes lacked creativity, Wash inherits a defense with more pieces to become a respectable unit.
Remember, Babich coached a talent-challenged defense that allowed more points (1,309) than anyone the last three years. It constantly struggled to get off the field on third down.
Wash’s promotion from line coach comes as Sen’Derrick Marks and Dante Fowler return to full health.
