Interim Titans coach Mike Mularkey disagreed Tuesday with the assertion he was critical of former Jaguars general manager Gene Smith in a press conference earlier this month when asked about coaching the Jaguars in 2012.
Here’s the exact Mularkey quote from Nov. 3, when he was introduced as Ken Whisenhunt’s replacement: “I was proud of what [the Jaguars’ players] did in [2012] – we could’ve used more help roster-wise.”
Asked about that comment during a conference call involving one Times-Union reporter and one member of the Jaguars’ digital media department, Mularkey took umbrage.
“I don’t think I said that,” Mularkey said.
