Brandon Allen left the Senior Bowl in January doubtful the Jaguars would be looking to draft a quarterback, but impressed with the coaching staff he spent a week learning from while auditioning for the rest of the NFL.
Turns out the feeling was mutual.
Despite being set at the position with franchise starter Blake Bortles and freshly re-signed Chad Henne, the Jaguars were enticed enough by what they saw working with Allen to use a sixth-round pick (No. 201 overall) on the former Arkansas starter. Allen, who signed his contract with the team Thursday, was the only offensive player among the Jaguars’ seven-man draft class.
