JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — For the last three summers, expectations have varied for safety Josh Evans. However, by the end of training camp each year, Evans' role has expanded to one of importance and urgency.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are once again lacking safety depth and with starting strong safety Jonathan Cyprien out for the remainder of the preseason (and potentially the beginning of the regular season) due to a hand injury, Evans has taken his place in the lineup.
This move to the front of the line comes during a time when Evans is re-learning the strong safety position after playing the majority of his college and professional career as the single-high defender.
