JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Earlier this offseason the Jacksonville Jaguars divulged that they would not carry a fullback on the roster in 2015. In many circles it is considered a dying position in football. However, there are situations that arise in an NFL game - short yardage/goal line - where a team still needs a bulldozer to pave the way and create a hole.
Enter Jaguars' veteran defensive end Tyson Alualu.
Alualu, entering his seventh season in the NFL, is seeing time on the offensive side of the ball, getting practice-reps at fullback on Thursday and Friday. The former top-10 pick by the Jaguars was originally drafted because of his athleticism and high motor, something the Jaguars coaching staff think can translate to the fullback position.
