Okay, I want to come forward at the start of this article and point out that I’m playing fast and loose with the definition of a “playoff team.”
Most people refer to a playoff team as a team that participated in the playoffs, and that is a very agreeable point. By contrast, teams that are close to making the playoffs are considered to be “playoff contenders”. The Jacksonville Jaguars were technically a playoff contender up until the last three weeks of the season.
But I want to go out on a limb and make the wild claim that our Jags were a playoff team.
