Bob Babich, who was fired as the Jaguars defensive coordinator at the end of the season, was hired by the Chargers as their linebacker coach Tuesday.
He replaces Mike Nolan, who decided to pursue other opportunities according to a Charger press release.
Babich will likely be working in Los Angeles next year. The Chargers have been given the green light to leave San Diego and join the Rams in a joint venture.
Babich spent 19 years in the college ranks before entering the NFL as linebacker coach of the Rams in 2003.
He then spent nine seasons with the Bears before being hired by his close friend, head coach Gus Bradley, as the defensive coordinator when Bradley was hired in 2013.
