Throughout the offseason program, as he shuttled between practice fields, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley had a pep in his step and it didn’t only have something to do with his noticeable weight loss.
The reason is obvious: Bradley finally feels he has the horsepower to coach a week-in-week-out competitive team.
Free agency yielded defensive tackle Malik Jackson and free safety Tashaun Gipson, among others, and the draft produced cornerback Jalen Ramsey, linebacker Myles Jack and defensive tackle Sheldon Day, among others. A year after the offense showed a pulse, the Jaguars expect the defense to make a big jump, which would then propel the hapless-in-the-last-decade franchise into respectability.
