Defensive end Chris Smith didn’t exactly get a warm welcome from his teammates when he reported for the start of the Jaguars’ offseason program in April.
“We were on him day in and day out,” defensive end Andre Branch said. “He was eating a lot, and we had to tell him to back off.”
Smith put on at least 15 pounds from his 267-pound playing weight because he ate too much of what he described as his “momma’s home cooking” and didn’t work out enough. The extra weight caused him to get off to a slow start in the offseason.
