Jaguars defensive end Chris Smith recognized going into training camp that he would need his best preseason yet to earn a third year with the team after it invested heavily in remaking its defense this off-season.
He accomplished that and made the 53-man roster with a productive August.
Now Smith wants to ensure his production translates to September and the rest of the regular season, beginning with a difficult match-up Week 1 against a strong Green Bay offense.
“I had a couple of good preseasons before, but as far as going out there and not thinking and as far as going out there and playing each and every play at full speed, I feel like this was my best,” Smith said.
