A well-traveled Greg Olson gets chance to revive Jaguars' offense

Twenty-five years later, two opening-page sentences from the thesis Greg Olson wrote while attending Washington State, titled “Developing Quarterback Skills In A Passing Offense Through Instructional Videotape,” remain accurate and the basis of his coaching philosophy.

“For a quarterback to achieve a high degree of success, there are certain qualities he must possess. It is the responsibility of the coach to help the quarterback develop these qualities.”

Quarterbacks need keen footwork, throwing mechanics and decision-making to be successful. And they need to be taught properly.

That is why Olson was brought to the Jaguars in January as offensive coordinator, to help elevate Blake Bortles to a new level and propel the team’s impotent offense back to respectability.
