Iowa State’s Earl Hall was named the USA Wrestling wrestler of the week on Monday.
Hall, ISU’s 133-pounder who’s ranked 10th nationally by Flowrestling, was a crucial part in the Cyclones’ run to first place at the Virginia Duals over the weekend.
The senior went unbeaten in all four of ISU’s duals. On Friday, Hall beat George Mason’s Vince Rodriguez, 8-3, and Kent State’s Mack McGuire, who’s ranked 11th, 4-3. On Saturday, Hall opened with a 16-4 major decision over Chattanooga’s Cody Hill in the semifinals.
In the finals, Hall used a buzzer-beating reversal to knock off Virginia Tech’s Dennis Gustafson, 6-5.
