Wrestling: Cyclones toss aside Chippewas

The No. 17 Iowa State wrestling team returned to Hilton Coliseum for its first home dual since early December and defeated No. 21 Central Michigan 25-12 on Sunday.

ISU 125-pounder Kyle Larson won by forfeit to open the day. Earl Hall (133), Tanner Weatherman (165), Lelund Weatherspoon (174), Dane Pestano (184), Marcus Harrington (197) and Quean Smith (285) also picked up wins for the Cyclones, who snapped a three-dual losing streak with Sunday’s win over the Chippewas.

Harrington’s 11-10 win over Jackson Lewis sealed the win for the Cyclones. Smith, wrestling in the day’s final match, was the only ISU wrestler to earn bonus points, defeating Newton Spercheck 14-6 to win by major decision.
