Having spent the past 40 days competing away from home, a stretch that ended with three straight losses, Iowa State’s wrestling team was back on its own turf Sunday. The Cyclones hoped a return to Hilton Coliseum would be boost it needed to get back in the win column.
Through five matches, though, the No. 17 Cyclones trailed No. 21 Central Michigan 12-9.
ISU head coach Kevin Jackson admitted being a little nervous at that point, but he liked the way the matchups lined up for the rest of the meet.
“We knew when we looked at those head-to-head matchups,” he said, “that if our guys wrestled to their true abilities and their guys wrestled to their true abilities, we felt that we would win those matches.
