Women’s Basketball: Young talent to play a big role for ISU this season

Bill Fennelly didn’t mince words. When asked what roles his three star freshmen would play this year, Fennelly said they would all have “very big roles” for the Iowa State women’s basketball team for the 2015-16 season.

“If you watch us practice, there’s a lot of times when all three freshmen are on the court,” the head coach said. “They’re talented. They’re skilled. I told them before the first practice that we’re going to coach them really hard because they’re going to have to play.”

Of the 12 players on this year’s roster, seven are underclassmen. There are three true freshmen in Bridget Carleton, TeeTee Starks and Meredith Burkhall, as well as sophomores Bryanna Fernstrom and Emily Durr.
