A handful of former Iowa State women’s basketball players and a parent of one current Cyclone expressed their support in light of racial discrimination lawsuit made against head coach Bill Fennelly.
Former player Nikki Moody, who claims to have been “constantly demeaned, berated, harassed and discriminated against” is suing Fennelly, the university and the state. It caused Moody, who is African-American, “severe emotional distress.”
Many former players were shocked to hear of the allegations. The hashtag #StandByCoach has made the rounds on social media, from former Cyclones like Chelsea Poppens, Kelsey Carper (formerly Bolte), Alison Otzelberger (formerly Lacey) and Lyndsey Fennelly (formerly Medders).
