Four players scored in double figures as the Iowa State women’s basketball team beat Southern, 86-46, on Sunday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum.
The Cyclones (4-3) overcame a slow start to ultimately run away with their second-straight victory. They led by just five after the first quarter, but turned that into a 14-point advantage at halftime. By the end of the third, ISU managed a 23-point lead, allowing coach Bill Fennelly to insert his backups for the majority of the final frame.
ISU’s Meredith Burkhall came off the bench and led all scorers with a career-high 18 points.
