Women’s Basketball: Cyclones overcome poor shooting, come back to beat Cowgirls

Bill Fennelly glanced at the final box score and saw a number that made his eyes grow wide. He sounded shocked when he read it aloud.

“I don’t know that I’ve ever coached in a game where we made 12 field goals and won,” Fennelly said.

The Iowa State women’s basketball team didn’t shoot the ball well at all on Saturday afternoon, but that obstacle didn’t matter. The Cyclones overcame a poor shooting performance and a late deficit to beat Oklahoma State, 49-42, at Hilton Coliseum.

The Cyclones (10-3, 2-0 Big 12), now winners of eight-straight, turned in their worst shooting mark of the season.
