CEDAR FALLS — Seanna Johnson scored a career-high 28 points and the Iowa State women’s basketball team beat Northern Iowa, 84-75, on Wednesday night.
Johnson added 10 rebounds, while Bryanna Fernstrom turned in her third-career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Meredith Burkhall scored 11 off the bench on 4-of-6 shooting, while Jadda Buckley and Nicole ‘Kidd’ Blaskowsky added 10 and 8 points, respectively.
The Cyclones (3-3) jumped out to a 19-6 lead after the first quarter, but the Panthers (3-3) clawed back to within 36-31 at half. UNI claimed a 52-49 lead with less than 4 minutes to play in the third quarter, but ISU responded with a 9-0 run to reclaim a lead it would not relinquish.
