Meredith Burkhall, a true freshman on the Iowa State women’s basketball team, has been named the Big 12 Conference’s freshman of the week, the league announced on Monday.
Burkhall produced double-digit scoring performances in each of the Cyclones’ last two games, both of them victories. The Urbandale native scored 11 points against Northern Iowa last Wednesday on 4-of-6 shooting, and followed with an 18-point, 8-rebound performance against Southern on Sunday.
Burkhall is the second ISU player to earn the freshman of the week honor this season. Bridget Carleton earned the award on Nov. 16.
