Meredith Burkhall played all but four minutes against Texas Tech. The true freshman had only broken the 30-minute plateau in a game once before Sunday’s 69-66 overtime loss. She thought she played “pretty well.”
“That’s just something I have to get used to,” Burkhall said on Monday. “I have a bigger role on the team now and have to step up and do things for this team.”
Indeed, Burkhall now has an expanded role for the Iowa State women’s basketball team, a designation assigned to her after sophomore center Bryanna Fernstrom was released from her scholarship last week.
