Ciara Capezio thought she had a 50-50 shot at returning to her home state for the NCAA volleyball tournament’s opening rounds. The committee came through for Capezio, but dealt Iowa State a difficult opening draw.
The Cyclones will face off against Miami (Fla.) on Thursday in the first round in Madison, Wis., where the sixth-seeded Badgers lie on the other side of the bracket.
“It’s a tough draw,” ISU coach Christy Johnson-Lynch said after her team was selected to its 10th-straight NCAA tournament. “I haven’t seen Miami a ton, but what I’ve seen of them I think they’re a very good team and athletic.
