Christina Hillman sat and watched the entirety of the men’s shot-put competition. The Iowa State senior thoroughly enjoys the conference competitions, primarily because of the scoring involved.
“We get recognized as a team sport,” Hillman said. “I’m over here cheering for the throwers, and then I’ll walk to the track and yell at the runners. I’m going to lose my voice by tomorrow, for sure.”
Earlier in the day, Hillman secured first place in the women’s shot put competition at the Big 12 indoor track and field meet on Saturday. Her throw of 17.93 meters allowed her to edge Kansas State’s Dani Winters by exactly three tenths of a meter.
