1. Hoiberg leaves, Prohm arrives
The whispers and theories had always been there regarding Fred Hoiberg’s flirtation with the NBA, but offseasons had come and gone with Hoiberg remaining the coach of his surging alma mater.
Until this June, when Hoiberg made the bold, though unsurprising, move to join the Chicago Bulls with a five-year, $25 million contract in tow.
The decision was tough for many Iowa State fans to swallow, but given the longstanding belief the NBA could very well be Hoiberg’s ultimate destination, it was an understandable one.
The search to find his successor started immediately, and the process, at least publicly, played out with twists, turns, drama and intrigue.
