Fifth-year Iowa State senior Solomon Young announced to the Iowa State media Friday morning that he will not be pursuing a sixth-season, as granted by the NCAA’s COVID-related eligibility policy. Young will instead pursue a professional basketball career following the 2020-2021 basketball season.
The Sacramento-native has appeared in 109 games over his career, averaging 7.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 53% from the floor. A member of the recruiting class of 2016, Young was one of Steve Prohm’s first recruits, and actually played a season with Naz Mitrou-Long.
If you’re keeping track, that means Solomon Young has been here long enough to be just one degree removed from Melvin Ejim, who began his Iowa State career a full decade ago, and just two degrees removed from Jamie Vanderbeken.
