NEVADA — To Will Baumman, volleyball isn’t just a sport. It’s also a teaching tool.
When Baumann was named Nevada’s next head volleyball coach before the start of last season, he started incorporating a few things that he hoped would help the Cubs.
One of his ideas was to keep a journal, where his players kept their goals and reflected on their play in practice and matches, relating their thoughts to a set of principles the team began to follow.
And it guided them to the program’s first ever state volleybal title. For his success, Baumann was voted the Ames Tribune all-area volleyball coach of the year.
