New Running Backs Coach in the House

Ever since Lou Ayeni left for his alma mater out in Evanston, Cyclones across the nation have been wondering who would fill the void. Enter Nate Scheelhaase, former Illinois quarterback (2010-2013) and former RB/Offensive Assistant coach at Illinois since 2015. Nate will team up with fellow former Illinois assistant Alex Golesh.

As a RB Coach in 2015, his backs averaged almost 130 yards per game, and the corps was led by Ke’Shawn Vaughn, who had 723 rushing yards in addition to six touchdowns on the season.

Scheelhaase has been a leader on and off the field, specifically he won the Big Ten Medal of Honor in 2014.
