It’s going to be a very strange weekend for Steve Prohm.
The Iowa State men’s basketball coach will be squaring off against his coaching mentor, Billy Kennedy, whom he coached under for 12 of his 13 years as an assistant.
But it’s that one year and where Kennedy coaches now, Texas A&M, that makes this trip so odd for Prohm.
In August of 2005, Prohm was a first-year assistant at Tulane as an assistant to Dave Dickerson, who just took over the Green Wave.
“I always kind of liked the (Tulane program) so I was excited to get that assistant’s spot,” Prohm said in an interview with the Ames Tribune.
