Iowa State men’s basketball player Jameel McKay’s current suspension is “practice related,” he wrote in a message to the Ames Tribune on Saturday.
ISU confirmed Friday night that McKay did not make the trip to Stillwater for the 13th-ranked Cyclones’ game Saturday against Oklahoma while also saying the 6-foot-9 senior was suspended indefinitely.
“Indefinitely sounds harsh beacuse it’s one game,” McKay wrote, “so I’m not sure why they would use that wording.”
Both ISU and McKay stated that the suspension did not stem from any legal issues. McKay, the reigning Big 12 defensive player of the year, is averaging 12.
