MARSHALLTOWN - Georges Niang made his professional debut Sunday.
Well, sort of.
The former Iowa State star was one of five graduating seniors from Iowa’s three state universities to participate in a celebrity exhibition men’s basketball game at Marshalltown High School’s Roundhouse in front of a few thousand fans.
“That was really cool,” Niang said after, “and hopefully we can continue to do this. I’ll probably be on the other side now. Will I get to play against Naz (Mitrou-Long) and Matt (Thomas)?”
The game was part pick-up, part Harlem Globetrotters, but Niang will spend the next few weeks with much more serious basketball endeavors.
