CLEAR LAKE — As the Iowa State fan base spent another day in limbo awaiting word from Chicago, Fred Hoiberg or anyone with an opinion on the Cyclone men’s basketball coach’s future, ISU athletic director Jamie Pollard emphasized restraint and calm.
“I think everyone needs to take a step away from the ledge,” Pollard said during the ISU tailgate tour stop at the historic Surf Ballroom. “I recognize it’s tough on (the media), it’s tough on the players, it’s tough on fans. At the end of the day, Fred has done a tremendous amount for our institution and the last five years has been pretty special.
