Men’s Basketball: Notebook — Cyclones unable to take Tech game at end of regulation

LUBBOCK, Texas — The plan for Iowa State was as simple as it was smart. The Cyclones wanted the ball in Monte Morris’ hands with Georges Niang in the post, giving the two the chance to win the game against Texas Tech at the end of regulation.

The execution, however, left the Cyclones wanting a bit more as it ended with a missed Morris 3-pointer that gave way to an 85-82 loss Wednesday to the Red Raiders.

“We were trying to get the side cleared for them,” ISU coach Steve Prohm said, “and Monte’s got the post feed or Monte’s got the drive.
