Offense wasn’t the problem for the Iowa State men’s basketball team on Monday night.
The 17th-ranked Cyclones scored plenty, but couldn’t get enough stops as No. 14 West Virginia won 97-87.
The Mountaineers (21-7, 10-5 Big 12) shot 49.2 percent and nearly hit triple digits. ISU had trouble with dribble penetration as West Virginia guard Jaysean Paige constantly got to the basket and led all scorers with 34 points. Also, Tarik Phillip added 22 points.
ISU (19-9, 8-7) shot 50.8 percent and played with West Virginia most of the night, but it wasn’t enough for the Cyclones to secure the road win.
