A number of Iowa State trends continued Sunday when the Big 12 announced its annual awards.
ISU senior Georges Niang was named a first-team all-conference reporter for the second consecutive year, Monte Morris was a repeat second-team performer and Deonte Burton became the fourth Cyclone in five years to be named the league’s newcomer of the year.
Niang, a third-team All-American last year, is averaging 19.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists this year, and was a unanimous first-team selection. Morris put up 14.2 points, 4 rebounds and 7.1 assists in 38.1 minutes per game this season.
