Iowa State senior center Jameel McKay has been suspended indefinitely, an ISU spokesperson tells the Ames Tribune.
McKay did not make the trip to Stillwater for the 13th-ranked Cyclones’ game Saturday against Oklahoma State. Earlier Friday, McKay’s mother told the Ames Tribune that he would “not be in attendance” for the game but declined to give the reasons for his absence.
The 6-foot-9 center is averaging 12.4 points and nine rebounds per game for the Cyclones, who have lost two consecutive games. McKay has been dealing with a knee injury in recent weeks.
“I’ve got to start thinking about myself personally so I don’t know how much more I’ve got in me,” McKay said of the injury late last month after a win against Kansas.
