The 13th-ranked Iowa State men’s basketball team held on Wednesday to defeat visiting Texas Tech, 76-69, at Hilton Coliseum.
The Cyclones (12-2, 1-1) led by as many as 18 in the first half, but saw the lead dwindle to as few as two in the final minutes against the Red Raiders (11-2, 1-1) until a Matt Thomas 3-pointer followed by a Monte Morris to Abdel Nader transition alley-oop pushed the lead to nine with under 1 minute, 30 seconds to play to secure the eventual victory.
ISU fought through first-half foul trouble from Georges Niang and 39.
