Iowa State men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg is expected to be released from the Mayo Clinic following open heart surgery on Thursday, according to a Mayo Clinic press release.
Hoiberg underwent a surgery to replace replace his aortic valve on April 17.
“This was a second open heart surgery for Mr. Hoiberg, so it was a long operation, but because he is in such good shape and healthy, he is recovering quickly,” said Hoiberg’s surgeon, Rakesh Suri, in a statement. “He will do well, and his prognosis is for a normal life.”
Doctors informed Hoiberg the procedure was needed in September.
