MANHATTAN, Kan. - With the game tight and a once-double-digit lead appearing tenuous in the game’s final stretches, Iowa State mens’ basketball coach Steve Prohm ditched the tie around his neck and proceeded to watch his team gain some breathing room, both in game and in the season.
The 17th-ranked Cyclones thwarted a second-half push from Kansas State to win, 76-63, on Saturday afternoon to stop a two-game losing streak and quiet some of the doubt circling this once-top-five team.
“To come here and win by double figures,” Prohm said, “it shows we’re not going to just let people push us out and say ‘Iowa State’s done for this year.
