Iowa State men’s basketball guard Hallice Cooke has been cleared to do full-speed basketball activities, a school spokesperson told the Ames Tribune on Tuesday.
Cooke will not yet be able to do full-contact drills, such as full 5-on-5 games.
The Oregon State transfer had surgeries on both his hips last fall to repair cartilage tears. The timetable for recovery given in October before the surgeries was 6-to-8 months.
Cooke shot 45.6 percent from 3-point range as a freshman with the Beavers and averaged 8.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He’s expected to be at minimum a rotational player for an ISU team that returns six of its eight contributors from a season ago and figures to be ranked in the preseason top-10.
