La Gesse Column: Warren, a 1,000 yard season and the legacy of a redshirt freshman

The easy part for Mike Warren is over. He’s joined the 1,000-yard club. Now, he’s got to prove he deserves to stay there.

Warren showed, with every big run, juke move and touchdown he scored over 10 games he’s good. It’s in the next three years and two games, starting at Kansas State this morning (11 a.m., FS1), for Warren to demonstrate he’s great.

“I think it’s too early to compare when you talk about great running backs you are talking about careers,” coach Paul Rhoads said. “You got to do it for a career. Talent-wise, it’s fair to make some comparisons to some of those guys.
