La Gesse Column: The last go-around with the 2011 Oklahoma State upset

Bella was about to find out that Edward was a vampire. “Twilight” was about to get good.

And Allen Lazard couldn’t care less. Not with Iowa State on the verge of upsetting Oklahoma State in 2011.

“I remember not wanting to watch ‘Twilight,’” the receiver said, “but wanting to watch the game.”

Lazard couldn’t tune in until the fourth quarter of the Cyclones’ 37-31 double-overtime win. He could have a chance to live the entirety of a program-altering upset when No. 5 Oklahoma State plays in Ames on Saturday (2:30 p.m., ESPN). If he doesn’t, the biggest benefit from the 2011 win will become nothing more than a distant memory for the program.
