The change came without much fanfare. Joel Lanning was told he would be the starting quarterback in a quick meeting with his position coach, Todd Sturdy. It wasn’t made public with a statement, but on page 11 of Iowa State’s weekly football press release where Lanning was listed as the top quarterback on the depth chart.

Lanning becoming the starter for Texas tonight (6 p.m. FS1), was understated. What comes next can’t be.
