Jeff Hornacek pulls out of Iowa State coaching consideration

Iowa State is looking for former head coach Fred Hoiberg’s successor, but Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek will not be it.

According to Chris Williams of Cyclone Fanatic, Iowa State reached out to the former Cyclone and offered a meeting with AD Jamie Pollard and school president Steve Heath, but Hornacek turned it down.

Instead, he will remain with Phoenix, with whom he has accumulated a record of 87-77 across two seasons without making the playoffs.

The 2015-16 season is the last on his contract.

Prior to getting into coaching, Hornacek played in the NBA for 14 seasons and garnered a reputation as an excellent shooter.
