Cyclones start strong at Nebraska
The Iowa State track and field team opened the Holday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., with some strong performances.
The Cyclones picked up their first event win of the indoor season when freshman Jasmine Staebler won the 1,000-meter run in 2 minutes, 52.67 seconds. ISU athletes dominated the event, as fellow freshmen Erinn Stenman-Fahey and Grace Gibbons took second and fourth, respectively.
In the mile, Cyclone runners crowded near the front of the pack. Junior Maryn Lowry finished in second in 5:01.13, while Maddie Nagle, Annie Frisbie and Kelly Naumann placing third through fifth.
