Iowa State Football will honor one of it’s most important figures in 2020. The Cyclones will be placing the historic Jack Trice patch on their jerseys for the 2020 season.
This is all to use the platform of college football to help promote change, support equality and stand against all forms of discrimination and racism. Jack Trice was the first black athlete in Iowa State history. Trice died from injuries he sustained in a game against Minnesota in 1923.
“Jack Trice’s legacy is powerful and it’s certainly one we embrace in our football program, competing in Jack Trice Stadium is an honor and we never want to lose sight on the sacrifices he made.
