In the final Hy-Vee Big Four Classic at Wells Fargo Arena, the Cyclones headed to Des Moines to take on a Drake Bulldog squad that’s been much better than expected this season under first year coach Darren DeVries.
After a fast start by the Cyclones to take an early eight point lead, one of the patented Iowa State scoring droughts showed up, allowing Drake to take the lead. After a back and forth first half, the Cyclones took a 36-32 lead into the locker room at halftime.
After Drake started the second half shooting 70% from the floor and opening up another lead, the Cyclones began to claw their way back as Marial Shayok began to heat up after struggling early on.
