Georges Niang is a serious candidate for national player of the year.
I know that’s not a particularly controversial statement when discussing a player who was a consensus first-team preseason All-American, but I think it’s discussion-worth nonetheless. Building hype is one thing, living up to it is another.
And through 2 months and 11 games, Niang has done just that and established himself as one of the nation’s best players on one of its best teams.
Yes, it’s certainly very early in this race. And yes, this is an award that will be won during conference play.
